Ever since I announced that I am pregnant in workplace, my workload has reduced and I feel so useless. They think pregnant woman cannot handle things. Especially the top management where they think pregnant is a liability to them.
They have to give me 4 months maternity leave and after maternity leave, kids will fall sick and will take more leave to look after the baby. Sometimes when the top does not understand what a mother go though and will think that we are only trying to find excuses. If there is someone at home looking after the baby, who wants to take leave?
I wish not to work if I can when my baby is less than 2 years old. That's the time where they are the weakest and need the most attention. But I dun think I can do that for my 2nd baby. At least Grant is more fortunate to have me with him for at least 1.5yrs before he went childcare centre.
End of May, my baby is 20 weeks old and had went for a detailed scan at Thomson Medical. My baby is a girl and has decided to name her "Grace Lim". Grant Lim and Grace Lim. Chinese name will have to wait after the baby is out and now, we have to get a date from Long Shi Fu to go for operation. Doctor said its better for me to go for caesarean rather than natural birth. Since my 1st one is caesarean, the risk during a natural birth for the 2nd one is that the womb might open during contraction and baby will die inside the womb.
Everything is expensive for caesarean. Doctor fee go up by 1k and hospital feel can cost around 3k. Total cost will go up to 5k. Confinement lady need another 2.2k and I'm still saving up. I don't know if I can make it to save 8k. We have just finished our new house renovating and don't have much for furniture.
New house still need bed, sofa, dining table, tv. All these need around 3k. Every month still have many fixed expenses to pay and not much to save also. Everything needs money. I hope after giving birth things will get better.
