Save energy

From young, we were taught to save electricity as we are not from the rich nor the average class. We were below average and with the pay of our parents to support we 4 siblings, is really a tough task. Those were the times where Singapore is in the transit of developing to a more developed country. During the times where Singapore is transiting, prices went up though and the pay is just enough for we 6.

Even though if we have times where we need to borrow money, we children won’t know. Because that will be handle by our parents and even if they tell us, we are too young to understand. That's why we were taught to save electricity and water as much as possible. Not to waste water & electricity and even food. Everything needs money and money was hard to earn. There were no luxury place or food for us and the only luxury food for us was Pizza hut / KFC / Mac. That’s what the new generation are eating almost every day now.

The children before the 90’s are more innocent and pure. Not much fancy toys and only toys made from recycle materials. Times are hard and everyone were poor and parents wants to make children by making some little toys for the kids. I never have any Barbie dolls nor car toys. I only had my siblings and cousins to play and getting close to the nature. The golden time was when we were still staying in the village. We really had no toys but still we can play cooking with our mother used cooking wok and cook the stones and leaves.

When we moved to HDB, living become harder for parents. Raise in the electricity bills and house loan. Also transport fee included in the daily expenses.

Now to save electricity and water is to save the earth too. Due to global warming, everything is going to change. Not for the better but the worse. Climate changing to worse and unpredictable. Different seasons come earlier than usual. Natural disaster everywhere affecting many people. By doing our part, we can save the power supply bills and the earth. Why not?
